April 18: Bendigo youth to learn media skills with SYN
SYN Media are hitting the road to show the power of giving young people media platforms in regional areas.
With the support of the Victorian Government’s Be Heard program, SYN is travelling to Bendigo to hold a youth engagement forum on April 18th. The forum will assist local community radio stations, youth workers, community groups and others working in similar fields to create media opportunities for young people in regional Victoria.
“We know that access to SYN is an empowering experience for many young people in metropolitan Melbourne, and we want to see those same opportunities extended to young people all across Victoria,” says SYN General Manager Tahlia Azaria.
“We strongly believe that access to media skills and broadcast platforms is a great way to build confidence and connect young people with their local community.”
The forum seeks to teach skills and inspire local community organisations to create media projects with young people. The forum is part of a broader SYN strategy to engage without young people outside of its metropolitan Melbourne base.
The forum is free and open to anyone in the Bendigo region who works with or would like to work with young people on media projects.
Date: Thursday April 18
Location: 45 Mundy Street, Bendigo (The Green Room)
Interested community radio stations, youth workers or community groups can RSVP at http://syn.org.au/

SYN would like to acknowledge the support of the Victorian Government and the City of Greater Bendigo, Youth Development Team.
SYN today also launched the Festival of SYN, a week-long event offering over 30 free media-making workshops to young people and people who work with young people.
