April Regional Workshop
IT’S REGIONAL WORKSHOP TIME!
A fabulous part of the SYN Nation structure is the opportunity to keep learning and growing as radio and media makers.
We had 8 participants from almost every Hub across the country, including our Byron Bay, Warrnambool, and Hobart Hubs, and also a fantastic participant all the way from our Fitzroy Crossing Hub in WA to enjoy a day of learning, talking and pizza!
Topics across the day were centered around ‘Making Good Content Great Content’; helping our hard working volunteers take their radio making above and beyond in a collaborative, self-driving way. With help from our fantastic Content Development Coordinator James Blake, as well as our Education and Training Manager Campbell McNolty, SYN volunteers came up with some excellent ideas to take their Hub shows to new heights, and learnt some key skills to carry back to the rest of their Hub networks.
Some fantastic feedback received from some of our attendees included that it was a great chance to meet young people from across the country and to think collaboratively together, that the day had a ‘great vibe’, that volunteers had a ‘chance to both learn new skills and refine radio knowledge’, that it was ‘great to see different studios and editing software’, that it was a ‘well planned and thorough’, and ‘it was great to learn from young, accessable trainers and contributors rather than stiff old farts’!
We also heard from both that did and didn’t attend that these workshops should be happening more often and over more days; SYN hears you loud and clear, and will we working towards this in the future. Watch this (exciting) space!
