Baptism of Uzi as October SYN Approved artist
Our October SYN Approved artist is independent, and then some.
In 2010 they released the home-spun tape warp experiment Dictaphonium 1, but you might have trouble tracking this rare item down.
After securing spots at Melbourne’s Laneway Festival and New Zealand’s indie cool festival Campus A Low Hum, they released a second recording in early 2011 – a self-titled orange cassette tape that also went out online through Gaga Digi – to a sold out 300+ crowd at The Tote Hotel.
Their SYN Approved show at The Workers Club on Thursday 13th of October is their first headline show since the launch, and will be the first time that the cassette release will be available on CD.
Their sound? Psychedelic, spacey, progressive rock with biting twin lead guitarmonies, rolling drums, and rich synth-scapes. But this is one of those times when you think, “geez, music is hard to define”, so we suggest you just come along to SYN Approved and hear for yourself. We’ll be there, and so will support acts Towels and Legendary Hearts.
What is SYN Approved?
The SYN Approved Series is a monthly initiative that highlights new and upcoming Australian artists. In addition to playing a SYN Approved Gig, the artist is interviewed on SYN radio program, The Hoist, and SYN TV’s Channel 31 program 1700, as well as being promoted through social media.
Previous SYN Approved artists include Collarbones, Oscar + Martin, KINS, Electric Sea Spider, Seagull, Rat Vs Possum, Eagle and the Worm, T A N T R U M S, Alpine, White Woods, Mind Over Matter and The Frowning Clouds.
