Once the class has chosen a Video Blog theme, break into your working groups (individuals or pairs) and brainstorm your segment idea. Choose one aspect of the theme to present your segment on. For example: if you are doing the school tour, each person chooses one part of the school as the focus of their segment. Use the Video Blog Segment Brainstorm worksheet to work through it.
Some helpful tips to get you started:

  • Choose something that interests you, or something that you care about and you can talk about easily. It shows on camera when you are interested in or care about your topic.
  • Think about what you will say about your topic. What is important to you about this particular place, idea, thing, etc.
  • Remember to think about the audience. Who will you be speaking to? Think about how you would best communicate with that audience and what type of language and presence will be most appropriate or effective.
