Children in Detention

 Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young’s release of drawing made by children in detention in Manus Island has re-invigorated concern about the human impact of mandatory detention.  

Pamela Curr from the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre told us how those who have been granted asylum are plagued for years after with the after effects of detention. We asked if a focus on the rights of children within the debate is cutting through.

High Court rules Malaysia Solution unlawful

In the wake of the High Court's decision to rule the Malaysia Solution unlawful, human rights advocate and lawyer Julian Burnside joined Panorama to discuss what this means for refugee policy in Australia in the future.

Outside Villawood

Last week Villawood detention centre erupted with detainees protesting and starting a fire which ripped through buildings.
Federal Immigration minister Chris Bowen says those in the roits will not have their claims accepted.

Koonung Secondary College at SYN February 17
