SYN offers young people aged 12-25 the opportunity to develop skills and participate in a range of media making through SYN Radio Training, Awkward Stage Under 18 Radio Training, Young Journo Workshop Series and hands-on TV making.

Network Nerds at SIGNAL

Florence had a chat with I.T. guru Craig Lambie about a social media workshop he is co-ordinating at SIGNAL called Network Nerds that is giving young people the opportunity to become online ambassadors for SIGNAL. 
 
Network Nerds is running at SIGNAL every Thursday evening from 5pm to 7pm until 1 December.

Every month at our Young Journo Workshops, SYN offers new and exciting hands-on media making opportunities where you can learn about audio and video production, digital storytelling and hear tips from young journalists working in the media industry.

The Hoist by the Tracks - Comedy Night!

 

In association with FReeZA, SYN and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, for the very first time Signal will be holding a super special night of comedy AND music! Holy moly!

 

WHEN: Friday 15th April, Doors open at 5:30pm. Comedy from 6-7pm, then music until 8pm.

Music Interviews Workshop

SYN’s music department go through everything you need to know in order to arrange an interview with your favourite local band, as well as share their tips on preparing for and directing the conversation. 

Workshops particpants then get a chance to try out their new interview skills on Melbourne singer-songwriter Amaya Laucirica. 

Young Journo: Online Music Journalism Workshop

Online music journalists Rene Shaefer, Ben Gook and Jeremy Story Carter discuss their experience as online music journalists and answer question about how young journos can get involved.  Facilitated by SYN Music manager Jason Moore.
