Curriculum Mapping

Vidfest provides for a range of Essential Learning Standards to be met, across both Level 5 and 6.
For a comprehensive overview of the curriculum mapping, please download the Vidfest Curriculum Mapping (PDF) document.

The subject/KLA context for Vidfest may vary widely – it could be equally as   beneficial as a presentation vehicle in Science, Media, English, Geography or any other content area – so the VELS identified in the following pages are only a beginning. Many more may be covered by the research for and development of the video content.

However, the clear learnings covered in a vidfest in any subject are laid out in three main areas:

  • Literacy (both in the dimensions of core English and broader literacy, as identified in the National Curriculum)
  • Interpersonal relationships and broader community participation
  • ICT use and digital creativity

As such the VELS are drawn from:
Interpersonal Development, Civics and Citizenship, The Arts, Interdisciplinary Learning – and ICT, and English

In terms of the emerging Australian National Curriculum, Vidfest covers learnings from the Literacy strand of the English learning area, and 5 of the 7 General

Capabilities: Literacy, ICT competence, Critical & Creative Thinking, Ethical Behaviour, and Personal & Social Competence
