Day of awareness for violence against women
November 25th marked the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and White Ribbon Day in Australia. The United Nations found that up to 70% of women around the world experience violence in their lives. While people trafficking is a common cause of this in third world countries, family violence is the main cause in Australia. Reporter Alicia Barker spoke to Thea Brown, Professor of Social Work at Monash University and Natalie Pestana, Co-Organiser of Melbourne’s Annual Reclaim the Night March to find out more.
