Don’t forget to enrol to vote!
The election could be called any day now… get yourself on the roll before it’s too late.
As the law currently stands, the electoral rolls are closed at 3pm on the day that
writs are issued (that’s the day that the election is called).
There’s a bill in Parliament at the moment which might extend the deadline, giving everyone 7 days to get their enrolment forms in – but even so, that’s not very long.
Not sure if you’re enrolled properly? You can check here.
If you’ve moved or changed your name, you need to fill in the same enrolment form.
And if you’ve never voted before, don’t stress – the AEC won’t fine you if you get yourself on the roll pronto.
