First Day Jitters… (Alex)
Today was my first day of work experience at the house of SYN.
I had a nice sleep-in in the morning, having a nice relax the morning after ruining my vocal chords at band practice and the morning before my first day at the station.
I honesty had no idea what to expect from my day and hoped for the best. Mum drove me in to the city even though I’ll be catching the train home and in the morning every other day. She drove up and down cardigan street, not knowing where the number 16 would be. We eventually saw a door with ‘THIS IS SYN’ printed hugely on it. I walked in and was starting to get nervous until I met Kristina and Mayukh (the other work experience guy) walked in the door behind me.
We went upstairs and had a staff meeting with Kristina, JB and Chris (the IT guy). This went for an hour and was quite boring (but not as bad as I expected, because there was cake).
Kristina took us on a quick tour of the SYN house and then we went across the road and around the corner to the studios. They were quite cool and similar to what I expected. We went on a break and as I was sitting on the fake grass in the RMIT court yard I realised how cool a round of work experience I had.
I’m about to go and watch ‘objection’ live on air.
Hopefully the next few days will be just as fun.
