First Day Thrills
Today was my first day at the SYN house. I walked in feeling anxious, wondering what I would do, what the people were like and what it was all about behind the scenes. It was honestly a bit awkward at first (as any position would be), but as discussion was involved and time conceded, the more I began to increase an understanding of the industry. The place is full of great and different personalities with their own significant roles which make up the organisation. I was fortunate enough to work with the Panorama group researching a story which relates to youth. I helped out on a story about bike riders not following the road rules. Sophie (one of the staff) and I went out onto the streets and interviewed people asking questions like ‘Do you sometimes run a red light? And do you think it’s for your own personal safety?’ This was followed by writing up the story and editing the recordings for the show. It was really fascinating and a great involvement. Overall, my day was a great start and I am definitely looking forward to the rest of my week at the SYN Radio Station.
