Join a SYN Department

SYN has numerous volunteer-run departments. Management and crew positions are advertised each year in November, but volunteers are encouraged to help out throughout the year.

Come along to the next SYN Information Session to find out more and meet other volunteers.

Radio Programming

The Radio Programming Department listens to show proposals and determines the grid for each programming block. They are also responsible for providing show feedback to presenters and producers.

If you know what makes great radio, and can provide presenters with valuable feedback Ð this is the place for you.

Music

The Music Department assists in the music direction of SYN and maintains the CD library. Opportunities are available to assist in:

  • liaising with record labels
  • listening to new and unsigned albums
  • maintaining the CD library

IT

The IT Department runs and implements all things related to the admin and studio systems. Specific areas include:

  • Wide Computer Network
  • Studio On-Air systems
  • Server Systems
  • Web-casting
  • Client support

Experience is preferred.

Technical

The Technical Department maintains all things technical. Specific areas include:

  • Outside Broadcasts
  • Live Events
  • Sound Engineering
  • Transmission
  • Studio Maintenance

Production

The Production Department manages all of SYN's pre-recorded material such as SYN IDs, On-Air promotional campaigns, Sponsorship Announcements, and Show Promos.

Fresh approaches to production are always welcome. If you feel you have the capabilities to produce quality material, then SYN can give you the chance to create and air your ideas.

Publicity

The Publicity and Marketing Department is responsible for generating as much publicity for SYN as possible through contact with other media outlets and the SYN Street Team.
