Gippsland Hub Visit

This week marks SYN Nation’s first step out into the big, wide world of regional radio with a visit to SYN Nation’s Gippsland FM Hub!
A standout in the Gippsland region, Gippsland Radio is a long-time member of SYN Nation, and has had some excellent members pass through its doors. A strong mix of pop culture knowledge alongside those more into the classics, it’s a must-see (or listen!) when you’re lucky enough to be in the area!
The trip was an awesome opportunity to see the hardworking Gippsland team; and after some future strategizing with board members (including some who have been working for the station for over 25 years!) it was time to sit in on some of the great Hub shows that can be heard across the Gippsland region and on SYN Nation’s digital channel and online stream. I was lucky enough to join Louisa Carpinteri for her show Artists Unlocked, and Darcie Wade for her show Post Millennials, and was absolutely thrilled with their preparation, dedication and enthusiasm. Great job team!
Visiting the Gippsland Hub and sitting in on our fabulous shows helps SYN understand the importance of acknowledging the time and effort each SYN Nation volunteer puts into making radio happen. With many volunteers in our regional stations meeting heaps of barriers to even participate in community radio, including traveling major distances to do shows, juggling school and social commitments alongside their radio programs, and having opportunities to engage with other young media makers, it’s clearer than ever how important institutions like SYN Nation are to making young people’s voices heard.
Taking the time to sit and talk with SYN’s regional volunteers is central to keeping SYN Nation a strong and growing platform. Sometimes, it’s just great to sit and bounce ideas and concerns around with like-minded individuals, and that’s something that SYN Nation does best.
So- that’s it from SYN Nation for now! Stay tuned as we continue to travel the country, meeting and greeting SYN Nation volunteers, and learning lots along the way!
