Interview: West Side Circus ‘The Colour White’

WSC-MAR-Colour-White-Final-524x349-400x266.jpg

Are you comfortable in your own skin? Ever wondered what would you change and why? Who gets to define ‘beautiful’ and how deep do you think that beauty goes? The Colour White is an energetic physical circus/ contemporary dance performance, which explores what it means to be ‘beautiful’. The proliferation of (mostly) young non Caucasian people apparently attempting to look more Western by physically altering their bodies through medical and surgical procedures, The Colour White looks at whether this phenomenon is a product of a media over saturated with images that depict Whiteness as beautiful; or an inherently racist suggestion? Holly from Art Smitten had a chat to the Director Gorkem Acaroglu about the performance.
