Light the Night

The surprise announcement today that Australia would take an additional 10 thousand refugees is good news to those who stood out in the cold and driving rain of Monday night to light the night.
The Light the Night vigil expressed solidarity with those fleeing conflict and persecution – fleeing to Europe and the world’s door.
They called on the Abbott government to do more to stop the suffering.
They said Australia’s position betrayed our history as a warm nation, welcoming to those fleeing horror.
Panorama reporter Tess Johnson was there.
