Manthropology E6 – Alia Gabres – 20th March 2012

Listen here.
A white middle-class Western male and an Africa Muslim woman walk into a studio. The conversation covers family, a matriarchal upbringing and romantic relationships…well sort of.
Alia Gabres is a Melbourne-based spoken word poet. Alia works in the field of special needs education, is involved in a grassroots community based tutoring/mentoring program for migrant and disadvantaged youth, is currently working on a cross-cultural story telling project at the Footscray Community Arts Centre, as well as facilitating writing and poetry workshops.
