Meet the Hosts: Tara
Fandom Support Group is a radio show new to SYN 90.7, guiding you through the world of fandoms. We chatted with one-half of the show, T.
Hey, Tara. Tell us about your history with fandoms
It all started with Dan and Phil on YouTube, they were my first ever obsession. I watched all their videos, constantly.
Watching one of their videos for the first time: Did you do that thing where you keep clicking through YouTube’s “recommended” videos, or did someone put you onto them?
I think I was put onto them by my sister, or Genevieve!
So she’s to blame for this?
Absolutely, 300%. She’s also the one that got me into Panic! At the Disco, Fall Out Boy, and Halsey
So, to you, other than to maintain friendship with Genevieve, what does it mean to be in a fandom?
Being in a fandom is different for everyone, so for me it’s the passion for always wanting to know more about the things I’m interested in. I have a lot of random trivia knowledge on the history of Panic! At The Disco!
So, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out was the first studio album recorded by Panic! and the members at that time were Brendon Urie, Ryan Ross, Spencer Smith and Brent Wilson. After that came Pretty. Odd. where the band briefly dropped the exclamation mark from their name and dramatically changed their sound. I can go on forever about Pretty. Odd. but all you need to know is it was the last album to be recorded with the four original members. Cry.
Damn. You know your stuff
Trust me, I can go on forever
What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done as a fan?
Ohh, that’s difficult. And embarrassing
I did once write fanfiction for Dan & Phil. I’ve waited in line for hours to meet Frank Iero, and then gone and joined the back of the line again so I could meet him a second time, and I made an ‘edit’ of Brendon Urie and Ryan Ross once, but quickly deleted that off the face of the earth.
Have you no shame?
Hey, I deleted it. :p
Anything else you want to tell the world about fandoms?
Fandoms are crazy, and it’s infectious… you have been warned.
