SYN set to gain new life with 1UP
SYN, Melbourne's premiere independent youth media organisation, is inviting gaming enthusiasts to Northcote Town Hall on Sunday 20 July to 1UP, a FREE interactive gaming day and tournament.
The gaming day runs from midday until 6pm, featuring retro gaming (from Sega to Nintendo!), Wii, a live DJ, giveaways, and for the non-electronic gamers a technophobes corner. The highlight of the day is by far the Sing Star and Guitar Hero tournaments.
SYN's General Manager, Esther Anatolitis, says that the all ages alcohol, smoke and drug free event is a unique way to invite SYN's audience and those interested in the community media organisation to check out what SYN does.
"SYN has always had a bold approach in our programming and 1up is another unique SYN event," says Ms. Anatolitis.
"The world of gaming consoles is the final frontier of SYN Media, which already produces content on radio, TV, podcasts, zines and blogs.
SYN represents a brave new world of youth media. While our media production relies on volunteers under the age of 26, 1up puts the controls in the hands of our supporters, which is a great metaphor for SYN's philosophy that young people should be 'creators and not consumers' of media," says Ms. Anatolitis.
1up is a not for profit event funded by the FReeZA program.
Interested attendees are urged to contact SYN on 9925 4747 or by emailing info@syn.org.au
