NSW hip hoppers Mind Over Matter to play July SYN Approved with local lads The Psyde Projects and Koolta

Monday June 27, 2011 – Aussie Hip Hop heavyweights Mind Over Matter (aka M.O.M.) are coming to Melbourne to play SYN Approved at The Worker’s Club on Thursday, July 14th.  The boys have definitely earned their seal of approval from the hip hop scene, staying productive with a healthy list of releases, support roles and collaborative works since 2006. And their live show? Live instrumentation and crafty cuts on decks. Audience members: be prepared to lose a kilo or two!
Five years ago MCs Willow and Smiles were recording into a battered microphone that was propped up by a broomstick. Now the Sydney-based duo are enjoying the success of two mixtapes, two LPs, and a whole host of enviable support opportunities.
As well as supporting Bliss n Eso on three tours, they recently collaborated with the celebrated trio on their #1, platinum selling album ‘Running On Air’. M.O.M. have also supported Jebediah, Method Man & Redman, Masta Ace, Wordsworth, Planet Asia, DJ Crazy Caz (Tupac’s DJ), Mystro (UK), Muph n Plutonic, The Potbelleez, Pegz, Drapht, Downsyde, Pez & 360, Phrase & DJ Flagrant, Def Wish Cast and many more. Their sophomore album, ‘Just like Fireworks’, was released in March this year through Other Tongues.
Also co-headlining the night will be local lads Psyde Projects, delivering their swag of samples from diggers’ records with unpretentious lyrics. The Melbourne-based purveyors of ‘Golden Age’ hip-hop have a track record of crowd-pleasing live shows. Catch them showcasing their new single ‘Kay-Pee-Em’ in homage to the 90s, taken from their debut LP ‘Welcome to Boomtown’.
Plus don’t miss a special showcase performance from emerging 22 year old producer/MC Koolta. Hailing from South Australia, Koolta recently took out the Hilltop Hoods Initiative for 2011.
If you’re in a local Melbourne group and would like the opportunity to join this all star line up, visit the www.IForgetSorry.com/forum and post your music in the studio section to enter the competition to WIN the chance to play the opening spot on the bill.
