Recommended upload settings

Video Episode settings

When you export your video from Adobe Media Encoder (when using Premiere) , Compressor (if using FinalCut Pro), or other video editing software, choose the following settings:

File type:

MPEG4 (.mp4) or QuickTime (.mov)
If using Windows Movie Maker, export as DV-AVI, then take it into your video editor of choice and export with these settings.

Video:

Encoding: h.264
Dimensions: 512px x 288px
Field order: progressive (no fields) – don’t forget to de-interlace!
Pixel aspect ratio: 1:1 square pixels
Level: 3 or 3.1
Target bitrate: 0.8mbps
Maximum bitrate: 2.0mbps

NB: If you have the option to use 2-pass encoding, then use that, as it will result in a cleaner image.

Audio:

Encoding: AAC
Bitrate: 128kbps

If you use these settings, it will keep the file size relatively small while maintaining decent image and sound quality.

Audio Episode settings

When you export your audio podcast from Adobe Audition, Audacity,  Soundtrack Pro, or other audio software, choose the following settings:

File type:

MPEG Audio Layer 3 (.mp3)

Settings:

Voice only:
Bitrate type: CBR (Constant bitrate)
Bitrate: 64kbps
Sample rate: 44100Hz
Channels: stereo

Includes music:
Bitrate type: CBR (Constant bitrate)
Bitrate: 128kbps
Sample rate: 44100Hz
Channels: stereo
NB: restrictions regarding the use of music apply.

If you use these settings, it will keep the file size relatively small while maintaining decent sound quality.
