“Sharks” (February 15, 2014)

White_shark.jpg

In episode two of A Science Story, we put on our diving gear and drift head-first into the jaws of an ocean predator. Today’s show is all about sharks – their past, present, and future.

First up, Andrew and Gatto take a time-travelling journey back to the era of Cladoselache, a bizarre early shark species whose sex life remains a baffling mystery. We also profile the ocean’s most formidable fish – the great white shark – and special guest Chris McCormack describes his experience cage-diving with these beautiful animals. Finally, we tackle a little politics: what happens when governments ignore the science behind shark attacks?
