Street Rag Radio kicks off in Hobart

Honni, the Young Media Leader in Hobart, had a very specific goal written into her project plan: get on air by the last week of May. And, might I say, she is doing a damn good job of getting there.
The show is Street Rag Radio, the anchors are Imogen, Julliette, Josh, Chloe and Sam and goal is to tell the unheard stories of young people in Tassie. You can check out Street Rag Radio on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and meet the 5 anchors below. Welcome to the SYN family, guys!
“My name is Imogen, I am studying journalism at Utas and I am passionate about what you are passionate about. I love learning about new trends, hearing people’s stories and getting the voices of young people out in the world!
I believe young people in today’s society face an unfair prejudice and are an incredibly resilient generation doing their best to operate in a transitioning cultural and media landscape.
I have worked on two radio shows for Edge, including one covering news and current affairs. At the moment I co-host a program called Femtasm which airs at 4.00pm on Wednesdays. I can’t wait to get to get started on Edge Radio’s latest project and I look forward to sharing some amazing stories.”
“My name’s Josh and I’m a 25 year old cinematographer in training- I love music, films, films about music, rock bands with female leads… and anything really that causes me to feel creative and inspired!
I believe that young people don’t embrace the opportunity to change and shape the world around them enough! Power to the (young) people!”
“Hello my names Juliette and I’m part of the Street Rag Radio crew. I love being with my friends and having fun, its important to me to be a good friend and always be there for them when i can. I love art and crafts and everything creative! I think young people should have their say and not have opinions shut down because we are “too young” i get told all the time I have great ideas and to go though with them when i’m older…. well why wait? I can be great now and so can other young people!”
“Hey guys and gals. I’m Chloe, I’m 17 and I’ve been privileged enough to be part on Street Rag, YEE HAA! I enjoy Stevie Wonder, the Salmon Ponds and my beautiful keytar (heavy breathing). Young people are totally bitchin’ and with the power of media we can conquer the universe and expose our vital opinions to the world!”
“Hi I’m Sam and I’m part of the Street Rag radio crew. When I’m not working I’m studying, and when I’m not playing I’m chilling. I think young people have the potential to realise change, to change not only their own lives, but also the lives of others.”
Look out for more from the Street Rag Radio team on Edge Radio and SYN Nation!
