SYN and the Old Melbourne Gaol Present The Russell Street Bombing Exhibition

Old Melbourne Gaol/SYN Radio Partnership Program: for seven (7) sessions only the National Trust Australia (Victoria) has partnered with SYN Radio to offer your students the opportunity to deepen their engagement with our commemorative exhibition about the Russell Street Bombing. Thanks to generous support from the Victoria Police Museum this exhibition explores the extraordinary police work and achievements of detectives in solving a complex crime and will feature some of the items found at the crime scene. This partnership program will run at the Old Melbourne Gaol (377 Russell St, Melbourne) and SYN Radio (for security reasons the address of the studio will be emailed once a booking is completed) on the following dates and at the following time slots:

Fri 15th April – 9:30WH (followed by a 10-11:30 SYN program)

Fri 22nd April – 9:30WH (followed by a 10-11:30 SYN program) and 1pm WH (followed by a 1:30-3 SYN program).

Fri 29th April –9:30WH (followed by a 10-11:30 SYN program) and 1pm WH (followed by a 1:30-3 SYN program).

Fri 6th May – 9:30WH (followed by a 10-11:30 SYN program) and 1pm WH (followed by a 1:30-3 SYN program).

The SYN partnership has been setup to give added value to education visitors during the Russell St Bombing exhibition; featured at the Old Melbourne Gaol – Crime and Justice Experience (377 Russell St, Melbourne) by providing student visitors with the opportunity to deepen and extend their engagement with this highly sensitive content material by facilitating their engagement with primary and secondary source documents, associated with the Russell St Bombing event and use these to create their own radio program. Students will firstly experience the immersive nature of our Watch House Experience tour (30 minutes) and the supplementary exhibition; then build on this experience by visiting SYN radio and working with their peers, in small groups, to create a radio program which will be played on air that very day (90 minute session).
