“Tangalooma” – THE JOHN STEEL SINGERS

Tangalooma is the debut LP from Brisbane 6 piece The John Steel Singers.

The follow up to their Scott Horscroft produced The John Steel Singers: In Colour EP was inspired by the of Tangalooma in the Moreton Bay area of Queensland, and reflects the groups intention to make a Brisbane/Queensland record.  In their pursuit to make a Brisbane/Queensland record, The John Steel Singers enlisted to the services of one of the most revered indie-pop songwriters Queensland has produced, Robert Forster of The Go Betweens.

The result is some great indie pop gems filled out with a delightful brass section, which are sure to be a soundtrack for to the summer for many.  To put the icing on the cake, Nicholas Vernhes (Dirty Projectors, Deerhunter, Animal Collective) was called in to mix the record and the results are superb.

You can hear Tangalooma all this week as the Hoist feature record on SYN.  Make sure you tune in to The Hoist from 7-8pm weekdays for your chance to win yourself a copy!
