Tessa and the Typecast as September SYN Approved Artist
Monday, August 29th 2011 – Hand-picked by Kate Nash you say? Yes indeed, Tessa and the Typecast have a powerful indie-pop style that won them a spot supporting the English songstress on her recent Australian tour, and we’re predicting they will charm your little cotton socks off when they grace the stage for SYN Approved on Thursday, September 8th. The Staffords will be supporting.
The five talented individuals in Tessa and the Typecast have sculpted their sound since days spent in the music rooms of Ballarat Grammar School, and the now-Melbourne based group have a knack for nesting their piano driven, cello-infused pop into the chest cavity of many-a-willing audience member. To get you in the ball-park, reviewers have compared them to the likes of Regina Spektor and Florence and the Machine.
Late 2010 saw the release of their single ‘Painter’ through General Pants, and the resultant revelry by both Australian and London radio stations. In 2011 they hit the recording studio with Ricky Maymi of The Brian’s Jonestown Massacre, before releasing their new single ‘Straight On ‘Til Morning’, which we featured on our Sweet 16 in August.
With an EP on the way for late 2011, these gorgeous musicians are worth checking out. See you on September 8th.
