Signal Workshop Series

In 2010, SYN is teaming up with Signal to run a workshop program for young people aged 13 to 20 years. SYN will host a workshop at Signal on the first Wednesday of every month. Each workshop runs for two hours and will focus on a different aspect of digital media-making, digital story-telling or journalism.

Signal is a youth arts space funded by the City of Melbourne that is dedicated to developing and showcasing the creative talents of young people. Signal is located on Flinders Walk in Northbank, behind Flinders  St. Station towards Sandridge Bridge.

The workshop program also includes the Young Journo series, which brings journalists working within the Australian media to Signal to talk to young people about breaking into journalism. You can listen to previous Young Journo workshops:

September 1: Young Journo series - Online Music Journalism Workshop

Meet some of Melbourne’s top online music journalists and find out everything you wanted to know about getting your writing and photos published at SYN's Online Music Journalism Workshop. SYN is bringing together music journalists from FasterLouder, The Dwarf, Tone Deaf and Mess & Noise to answer all of your questions about the world of online music journalism and how you can get involved.

The Young Journo workshops bring journalists working in the Australian media to Signal, to talk to young people about working in journalism.
