UNESCO World Radio Day 2015

index.png

World Radio Day marks the anniversary of the first broadcast by UN Radio back in 1946, transmitting its first call sign. “This is the United Nations calling the peoples of the world.” And that is exactly what has happened since. Radio has served a purposeful role in connecting people all over the world. It has served as the beacon of light in emergency situations, a well informed voice in sports, a point of discovery in music, an easily accessible source of current events, and a consistent companion making the mundane ever so slightly bearable.

This year, SYN has commemorated this special day with a special outside broadcast right at the heart of RMIT at Bowen Street, celebrating the unique sustainable power of radio as a medium and the young people who are involved in it.
It may be a bit too late to catch that now, but fret not, you’ll be able to listen to the entire live broadcast here.
